"Empress Dowager Cheonchu" is the historical Korean drama talking about the life of Empress Dowager Cheonchu (Chinese: 千秋太后; Sino-Korean: 천추태후; Sino-Vietnamese: Thiên Thu Thái Hậu), the former queen consort of the late Emperor Go Kyeongjong (高景宗; 고경종 / Cao Cảnh Tông), the 5th Emperor of Goryeo Dynasty of Korea (高麗朝代; 고려조대 / Nhà Cao Ly), and also the mother of Emperor Go Mokjong (高穆宗; 고목종 / Cao Mục Tông), the 7th Emperor of the dynasty in late 10th and early 11th century. The show also tell about the war of Koryeo Empire (Goryeo Dynasty of Korea) fighting against 3 invasions of Liao Empire of Khitan.

This photo was published on September 30 2009 (2009년 9월 30일). In the interview, she talks about her process to work for her role as Dok Yeon in Korean drama "Empress Dowager Cheonchu".
"Over the course of four years, I intermittently worked as a magazine model and in various commercials, attending numerous auditions like other aspiring actors. I experienced many rejections, was cast for roles only to have them taken away, and after many twists and turns, I was finally chosen for the role of Dok Yeon in 'Empress Dowager Cheonchu.' She continued: "After passing the audition, I underwent intense martial arts training and acting coaching for several months. Although it was difficult, attending horse riding and action school, I finally discovered the fun in it. There were many trainees like Lee Chae Young (playing Sa il La). There were about five female warriors in the drama, and now only I am left. Hahaha."
She also mentioned that she maintained a strong friendship with Lee Chae Young, who became famous before her, through this project. "She is currently an MC for KBS's 'Star Golden Bell,' and I also want to try being an MC someday if I get the chance."
As it was a project she waited a long time for and her first full-length drama, "Empress Dowager Cheonchu" held a special significance for Lee Eun Jung.
"Originally, my appearance was planned for only about 10 or 20 episodes, and I was supposed to die. But, though it's a bit embarrassing, the director saw me favorably and praised me a lot, and now my appearances have exceeded 40 episodes. They didn't kill me off; they let me live. I've experienced love with Sa Ga Moon, had a child, and my husband (character Sa Ga Moon) even died... I've done it all. Hahaha."
